1. About this policy

This policy explains how Laze ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit our website at www.laze.london (the "Site") or get in touch with us.

Laze is a furniture restoration, reupholstery and furniture sourcing business operated by Heather Niven, a sole trader trading as "Laze", based in England.

We are the "controller" of your personal information. This means we are responsible for deciding how it is held and used.

If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, you can contact us at heather@laze.london.

2. The information we collect

We only collect the information we need. Depending on how you use the Site and interact with us, this may include:

  • Information you give us — for example when you fill in an enquiry form, email us, or ask us about restoration, reupholstery, furniture sourcing or fabric, including:
    • your name;
    • your email address and/or phone number;
    • your address or the location of the furniture (if relevant to the work or sourcing); and
    • any details you choose to share about your furniture, project, or enquiry.
  • Information we collect automatically — when you visit the Site, we (and Google Analytics) may collect limited technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location, the pages you view and how you found the Site. Please see our Cookie Policy for more detail.

We do not knowingly collect any special category data (such as health or financial details). Please do not send us sensitive information through the Site.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries and provide quotes;
  • discuss, arrange and carry out restoration, reupholstery, sourcing or fabric services;
  • arrange the sale or supply of furniture and related items;
  • keep records of our work and dealings with you;
  • understand how the Site is used and improve it; and
  • comply with our legal and tax obligations.

4. Our legal bases

Under data protection law, we must have a "legal basis" for using your information. We rely on the following:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the services or items you have asked for, or to take steps before entering into a contract with you (such as preparing a quote);
  • Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries, run and improve our business and Site, and keep proper records, in a way that does not override your rights;
  • Consent — for non-essential cookies and analytics, and any marketing we may send you (you can withdraw consent at any time); and
  • Legal obligation — where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law (for example, tax records).

5. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it where necessary, including with:

  • service providers who help us run our business and Site, such as our website host, email provider and Google Analytics;
  • professional advisers such as our accountant, where reasonably required;
  • couriers or tradespeople where needed to deliver, collect or work on furniture; and
  • authorities or other third parties where we are required to do so by law.

Some providers (such as Google) may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected by appropriate safeguards.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy. In general:

  • enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards;
  • records relating to work, sales and payments are kept for at least 6 years to meet our legal and tax obligations; and
  • analytics information is kept in line with the periods described in our Cookie Policy.

7. Your rights

Under data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances;
  • ask us to restrict or object to how we use your information;
  • ask us to transfer your information to another provider in certain circumstances; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at heather@laze.london. We will respond within one month.

8. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. Please check back occasionally to stay informed.
